The Major Faiths in Britain

Religion has always been a very influential aspect of human lives. It can be anything from the 'religious experience' to the universal tool for explaining phenomena which we do not understand through the context the known physical world.

Despite being an increasingly secular society, religion plays a major role in the lives of British people. In the most recent census a question was included for the first time about the respondent's faith. Despite being optional it was answered by 92.7% of the population. 76.8% of people claimed to be religious. That's 45,162,895 people.

This page provides a basic introduction to just a few of the world's great religions. They are by no means meant to be an authoritative nor exhaustive explaination, but are simply intended to provide a brief introduction and help you understand those around you better.
